The Wine Press

1. What if I have no experience in making wine?

The majority of people who use our facility have never made wine before. But think about it. Isn't that part of the fun? Our staff will be here to assist you in your hands on experience in producing the wine of your choice. Just remember... Not only will you make quality wine, you'll enjoy doing it.

2. How will I know if my wine will be great?

To make a great wine you have to start with great grapes. Truer words were never spoken. The grapes we use are flown in directly from premier California vineyards, arriving fresh for you to begin your wine making. To further ensure your wine is of high quality our staff will continue to monitor your wine throughout the fermentation and aging process, making adjustments as needed.

3. How much time will it take to produce my wine?

Your wine making experience will consist of four sessions, crushing, pressing, racking (a great time to relax and sample your wine), and bottling. Each session takes anywhere from 1-2 hours. However we at the Wine Press want you to enjoy every aspect of our facility which includes our upstairs kitchen/lounge as well as our outside patio. And don't forget about our wine tasting bar!

4. A barrel of wine (240 bottles) seems like a lot. Can I make less?

For some a barrel of wine can go in the blink of an eye. Also remember that throughout the year not only will you enjoy drinking your wine, but think of the parties and special occasions where you can showcase the wine that you made, making it even more personal with your very own label! We do however offer the option of making 1/2 barrels (120 bottles) where we team you up with another wine-maker who wishes to produce the same wine.

5. When will I be able to enjoy my wine?

Your wine making experience begins in September/October which is at the height of the California grape season. After several months of the fermentation and aging process you will be able to bottle and take your wine home with you in July /August of the following year.

6. How much does it really cost?

Prices start at $2,900.00 depending upon the type of wine you wish to produce. This includes the use of all equipment, grapes, bottles, corks, capsules, and labels to produce a barrel of wine (240 bottles) as well as storage of your wine for up to one year. Oak barrels are not included and can be purchased for $350.00 (it becomes your personal barrel) or rented per year for $100.00. If you desire a more exclusive grape and we have access to it, the only charge would be for the extra cost in grapes.

7. How does payment work?

When ordering your wine a $1,000.00 deposit is required with the balance due when you arrive to crush your grapes. For your convenience we accept cash, checks, and major credit cards.

8. Are there ever any events at the winery?

We usually plan wine tasting events especially during the summer to showcase the different wines that individuals can produce. Once you become a wine-maker with us we will continue to notify you of any and all upcoming events. You can also access our web-site at www.thewinepressct.com for anything planned in the future.

9. Can I plan an event of my own at your winery?

We would love nothing better then for our clients to plan a gathering at The Wine Press. Be it a small group that just wishes to relax with some cheese and crackers or a larger party where we can assist you with any and all details. Imagine the fun of having your next corporate event or party at a real working winery!
